Fall 2011: Prabal Gurung

3 Nov

A beautiful show, and much different from Gurung’s last collection which was much sportier. With inspiration from classic literature in Dickens’ Miss Havisham, the collection was elegance infused with eccentricity — that elegant old woman in the dusty house sporting the wedding gown for the rest of her life. The combination of glamour and a sex appeal worked magnificently, creating a collection that will appeal to those straight laced types and convince them to indulge in a little eccentricity. My favorite aspects of the collection was the rose colored gowns with furs and tailored sheaths and the slim, black silk ribbon bow belts. I also completely love the first look with the intense white/red jacket over the flowing, intense red skirt.
