Fall 2011: Azzaro

4 Nov

To say that I am madly in love with this collection would be a complete understatement. May I preface this by saying — if you do not read my blog, you should know that I am madly in love with bows. And lace. They’re elegant and feminine and can be contrasted with anything successfully. Vanessa Seward created a collection to die for — at least to me. It was very simple and there was no huge epiphany halfway through the collection — but it didn’t need it. It was a simple collection and everything was just so elegant. With all the red carpet coverage Azzaro has been receiving recently from Natalie Portman to Rosamund Pike, I like that the brand kept true to their style and not focus on making more red carpet worthy dresses. There was utter simplicity and utter elegance throughout the collection. The way that the lace is so elegantly woven into where the seams should be on the floor length black dress is amazing and just a really unusual idea. The way they did ruffles and tiers reminded me a lot of Valentino — but it is impossible to do a collection of all new ideas unless you are looking at Maison Martin Margiela or Mugler.
