Fall 2011: Dries van Noten

4 Nov

This was a very print-heavy collection. They were pieced together in really unusual ways with such conflicting materials and patterns that it was nauseating to think about. What was odd was how beautifully they came together to create interesting and unique pieces. The second row middle look — with the two prints on the bottom half and the ruffled structured hip section that goes up the middle, dividing the solid look of yet another print — this should not work. It is three conflicting patterns and two conflicting materials. Yet it does. These are really beautiful and just so well done. It takes a real master to make pieces come together in this way.
