Fall 2012: Alexander Wang

12 Feb

So…Apparently, according to Alexander Wang next winter will be cold. This is a mature side of Wang that I don’t think has really emerged much on the runway yet. Through this shift, Wang is proving himself to be able to appeal to a wider market. The dichotomy between T by Alexander Wang and his high end collection is getting more expansive — he’s really stretching out and separating himself from the street style reputation. I don’t not like it, but I loved that Wang so much this is definitely a huge shift. The difference between his Spring 2012 collection and this for fall is remarkable, literally black and white in terms of maturity and conception. Those pieces were ones with edge while this is completely a wear to work collection. The dresses were remarkable in terms of texture and cut and the waxy leather jackets DELICIOUS, yet the missing edge was very noticeable and definitely left me unsatisfied.
