Spring 2012: Preen

12 Feb

For Fall, Preen put together a strikingly similar collection in it’s geometricity yet utterly different in terms of silhouette and reception. I didn’t like this show at all. The Virginia Woolf inspiration did not quite come through as a look that is wearable. Each of these pieces was completely stuck in the past — the cuts were from the 50s and outdated, not updated. The length was just exactly wrong on each and every model, either above the knee or below the knee it hit to close to look good. The last look was one that I loved yet it was pretty much drawn exactly from the collection last season and fit not at all here. The duo for Preen is one that I am usually in utter support of but for this collection I think they completely missed the mark.
