Fall 2012: Zac Posen

14 Feb

Happy 10th anniversary to Zac Posen! It’s wild how his career and style have changed over the years. Despite being such a huge fashion icon, he’s never really been one of my favorites. Year after year I watch the shows and read the reviews yet there’s not anything that really draws me in. I admire his craft and his amazing vision yet I’m never engaged in any real sense with his work. His business looks make my formal look casual. He creates clothes for women who never fail to turn heads with their impeccable style and flair. Posen drew from Japan in both color scheme and pattern. This collection was critiqued a bit for being inaccessible — brilliant craftsmanship but the idea taken to such an extent that it was no longer felt genuine, overdone and costume like — gimmicky instead of fashionable. Coco Rocha both started and ended the show — her only of the season, and looked stunning whilst doing so.
