Fall 2012: The Row

15 Feb

There is little variation between the initial impression of the Olsen twins’ high end collection runways. The silhouette’s are generally pretty similar and the monochromality is always there — the emphasis on neutral tones and very sleek, chic dressing. It’s that effortless look they have so perfected — effortless yet the epitome of luxury. The complete elegance that accompanies each look gives it an unduly retro feel that isn’t from silhouette or anything other than their complete and utter grasp of the luxury market. The ability to create an almost completely sheer top that comes off reeking of elegance is a skill any designer would kill for and something the girls do over and over again in this and all other collections. With the collection showing in the Carlyle, this was the ultimate show of refinement and grace — a collection that will never get old, timeless. Olsen twins have a complete hold of a niche market that no one else is looking at — possibly because of the strength of their monopoly in it.
