Fall 2012: J. Mendel

16 Feb

Here Mendel goes again, never predictable and always inventive. This was a collection completely based around a neutral palette with a strong emphasis on furs. The fur did less for me than gowns would have. The very, very noticeable lack of Oscar-worthy gowns will make the event in 10 days rather interesting considering Mendel’s generally strong turn out for such events. It was mostly really strong and fabulous cuts. They were all mini’s which drew a nice change in seeing his ability as a designer. I loved the cuts, cut outs and this seductive and more rugged feel to the collection that was so unusual for Mendel. Even when in his wildest fascinations, Mendel creates an aura of femininity that is undeniable and amazing.
