Fall 2012: Michael Kors

This irony that I found in this collection was the complete warmth of it — the furs, the plaid, the flannel, the layering…that in the midst of the most ridiculously warm winter I’ve ever experienced. I know it means nothing for the future but it was definitely amusing now. That said, I loved his compilation of different patterns and motifs. Within the monochrome, he found a way to combine so many different ideas that it was really beautiful. The most unusual and my favorite was definitely the tweed one with the super retro feel. It was very cabin-in-the-woods chic and very Michael Kors in the casual yet refined qualities in each look. The cuts were longer than normal but they have been everywhere this season it seems. He waited until the end to pull out the glam numbers and that was something I rather admired. He kept the consistency of his inspiration in the collection until the last possible moment. He had to have the glam pieces yet who wants a flannel gown? This worked for me — Kors pulled together a refined and very beautiful collection.
